Palm Sunday | 9:00 am, April 13
Palm Sunday gathers us outside on Center Street in front of the church.
We’ll gather for the Liturgy of the Palms before processing around the neighborhood block while we sing together with palm branches in hand. Since this takes the place of our opening worship song set, you'll want to make sure to join us for this!
Upon return to the church, the upbeat praise and joyful shouts of "Hosanna!" shift as we are immediately confronted with the somber retelling of Christ's Passion, including the crowd's demands to "Crucify Him!" – setting the stage for our journey with Jesus to the Cross in the coming week.
Maundy Thursday | 7:00 pm, April 17
Maundy Thursday is the night that Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, the night he served his disciples in humility by washing their feet, the night he asked them to watch and pray with him in the garden. You’ll have opportunity to have your feet washed – by members of your family, friends, or our clergy before we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.
Stations of the Cross (Good Friday) | Noon, April 18
Guided Stations of the Cross has us walk with Jesus through the scourging and mocking, the walk to Golgotha, the nailing, and the final suffering with Stations of the Cross, a long-practiced way the Church has meditated on the Passion of Christ.
Good Friday Service | 7:00 pm, April 18
Good Friday is the night we are confronted with the agony of the Cross and the magnitude of Jesus’ death for us. This is a contemplative and solemn service, filled with darkness, quiet, and reflection, as we are reminded of the rejection, mocking, scourging, and crucifixion of the Lord of Life and of the role our own sin played in his suffering and agony, as Christ obediently took all sin upon himself. You will have the opportunity to personally come before the Cross in a spirit of devotion, giving thanks to God for the instrument of our redemption.
Easter Vigil | 7:00 pm, April 19
Called a “Service of Light and Lessons,” this is actually the first half of the Easter Celebration, which we’ll resume the next morning. The service begins outside the church around the Easter fire which lights the Paschal Candle to be carried into the darkened Sanctuary as we spread the light throughout the space (think Christmas Eve.)
We’ll hear and see dramatic presentation of God’s salvation story from Genesis to Zephaniah that points to fulfilment in Jesus. This service is designed to engage children and adults alike as we live the mystery of God’s promised redemption.
Easter Sunday | 8:30 am, April 20
8:30 am in the Sanctuary – Note the Time change!
The first Sunday in the 50-day celebration of Easter. This service begins with a festal procession and the joyful Easter Acclamation “Christ is Risen!” so feel free to bring bells to ring in “holy noise.”
